covid safe serviced apartments Windsor

As we begin to get back to business and re-open our apartments to the public, we are committed to providing safe, clean, sanitised rooms following strict government and industry guidelines in order for our customers and staff to feel comfortable and secure.  We have invested in a bio-fogging machine to enable us to quickly and hygienically sanitise all apartments in-between guests.  The product we use is called SteriZar and it has a 99.999% kill rate for bacteria and viruses within 30 seconds of contact.  SteriZar is safe for humans, pets and houseplants and is non-toxic and is a non-irritant.

We have started a program of deep cleaning and then bio-fogging to ensure we cover every nook and cranny, every doorknob and handrail.  Keys and parking permits are stored under a UV light in-between each guest after being sprayed with disinfectant in order to kill any bacteria that may be lurking there.

Staff have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks to understand the challenges of the virus on our business and how we can safely and easily implement best practices.  We are offering seamless no-contact check-ins by asking you to book and pay online using our secure web-link and then we send you key collection details so that we minimise contact with you during your stay.  If you are planning a StayCation this year then Windsor is a great place to base yourself.  As restaurants begin to open and the shops are already opening up, lockdown eases and life will return to a kind of “normal”, we hope that you will enjoy our safe, comfortable accommodation for a short trip to Windsor!

Here’s a round-up of what we provide

  • Self Check-in for apartments
  • Remote check ins for our B&B
  •  Self service breakfast in our B&B rooms
  •  Self catering apartments – your own private space

Captain Tom Moore given colonel title on his 100th birthday

Posted: Thu 30 April 2020 at 10:56

Colonel Tom Moore Amazing NHS fundraiser Captain Tom Moore celebrates his 100th birthday today (30th April 2020) and this national hero has been appointed as honorary Colonel of the Army Foundation College.  Chief of the General Staff General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith made the appointment, which has been approved by the Queen, in order to inspire the next generation of soldiers.

Initially setting out to raise £1000 for our NHS by walking 100 laps of his garden with his walking frame, Colonel Tom has now raised almost £30 million!

Capt Moore has been overwhelmed with birthday messages from the general public, including more than 140,000 cards which are being opened at a special sorting office set up at his grandson’s school.

Happy Birthday Colonel Tom, you are a true inspiration and great example to all of us!

Open for business during Coronavirus and our COVID-19 working practices

short term all inclusive accommodation windsorAccommodation Windsor Limited remains open for essential workers including our exceptional NHS staff and those that are stranded and unable to get home or who cannot stay where they are due to shielding.   We wanted to let you know that we are doing everything we possibly can to keep everybody safe:-

  • First and foremost all staff are following stringent health & hygiene procedures both personally and in our offices / vehicles / properties and we are sanitising all keys / safes and laundry baskets.
  • Staff are aware of the symptoms of Coronavirus and understand they should stay at home at the first sign of any symptoms.  We ask that all guests and suppliers follow the same procedures – see below for more details.
  • As well as cleaning our properties to their usual high standard we are completing additional sanitising including all communal areas.
  • Our office staff are now working from home where possible but are available to answer any guest queries and enquiries.  Please call rather than coming to our offices to avoid social contact.
  • We are able to offer self-check in for arrivals so that you do not need to enter our offices or come into contact with our staff.
  • We are in the process of winding down our weekly services to protect our employees and tenants and will be providing a doorstop drop off only.  This will involve dropping clean bedding / towels to the property at a pre-arranged time and taking used bedding / towels away with us for laundering.   We will endeavour to provide cleaning materials and toilet rolls where specifically required but please remember that it is currently extremely difficult for us to source these products.  We will only be able to offer weekly servicing on properties where the tenants have gone out.   Please note that we will monitor this situation and update as soon as possible but believe this is the responsible thing to do to protect our staff and tenants.
  • Current guidelines suggest that it is safe to go outside so long as you maintain a distance of 2m from others.  There are lots of parks and areas open for people to walk in and this is good for physical and mental well being.

These are troubling times but together we’ll get through it and if we all follow government instructions, it will pass all the quicker.  Please keep yourselves and your loved ones safe and remember that whilst you might not be at personal risk from Coronavirus we all have a responsibility to the elderly and more vulnerable in society.  Thank you so much for supporting us during this incredibly difficult period.

Please keep up to date with all the latest information on BBC news, NHS, WHO and Government websites.

COVID 19 Information for Visitors and Employees

For people who have travelled to or from a highly affected area, in the last 14 days, or who have come into contact with those that have done the same, we ask that you responsibly declare this to our staff prior to arrival.

To protect yourself and others we ask you to follow current World Health Organisation guidelines on hygiene and protection measures including:-

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water to kill viruses that may be on your hands.  If you are unable to wash your hands use anti-bacterial gel to protect yourself and others from germs.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth to avoid the virus entering your body.
  • Social distancing of 2 metres is recommended and you should avoid handshaking and hugs.
  • Follow good respiratory hygiene if you sneeze or cough.  This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or a disposable tissue.  Dispose of the tissue immediately and wash your hands.
  • Stay informed with up to date information and follow advice recommended on government, NHS or World Health Organisation websites.

*If you display symptoms of Coronavirus – high temperature, persistent cough and usual signs of flu such as headaches and aching limbs you should self-isolate for 7 days.  If you are in a household, everybody in the household needs to self-isolate for 14 days.  Do not go to the Doctors or A&E.  If you require medical assistance you should call NHS 111 and if you experience extreme symptoms such as breathing difficulties you should contact emergency services.

*This advice has been developed for educational purposes and is correct at the time of publication.  It is not a substitute for professional medical advice.  Should you have any questions or concerns please consult a medical profession by calling NHS 111.

Is AirBnB a good option for Windsor landlords?

Posted: Fri 28 February 2020 at 12:31

airbnb windsor, accommodation windsorAirBnB has seen phenomenal growth since it’s inception in 2007 in San Francisco. Initially started as Air Bed and Breakfast – charging guests to sleep on air beds in their spare room, founders Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia have come a long way since those days and AirBnB is now a multi-billion dollar empire.

So, many Windsor landlords have jumped on the bandwagon, offering spare rooms or buy to let properties on the sharing platform.  But is it all it’s cracked up to be?  Here are our top tips to maximise your income on your Windsor rental property:

MODERNISE – chuck away the chintz – get hold of some home magazines and replicate stylish hotel-like living room and bedroom designs.  Add new modern scatter cushions, rugs and throws.  Colour co-ordinate where you can.  Add texture.  Make sure to have at least one item of interest in every room (ie pictures or wall art) – it makes all the difference.  See some of Accommodation Windsor Property Makeovers

CLEAN, DE-CLUTTER – keeping your property clean is an obvious one, descale shower heads, shower screens and taps regularly.  Throw away or remove clutter – no-one wants to see or have to dust your keepsakes and family photos.  Make the space homely but without personal effects – remove any valuable (sentimental or otherwise) pictures and ornaments and replace with good quality generic items that match your scheme.  Don’t overdo it with the colour matching – it can look too twee.

UPGRADE – kitchens and bathrooms should be modern and functional.  Add facilities to make life more interesting like a Nespresso coffee machine, quality cooking implements, use stainless steel pots and pans and modern white crockery that is easily replaceable – hold some in stock as chips and breakages can be common especially in properties that allow children.

ADD NEW FACILITIES – Netflix or Sky are a good item to have, unlimited Wi-Fi is an absolute must – you won’t get bookings without Wi-Fi and it cannot run out so has to be truly unlimited – almost everyone nowadays spends time on social media or uses streaming services.  Sky TV can be quite expensive – Netflix is a good alternative.  Consider upgrading your TV to a smart TV with the streaming and social media apps installed for a more seamless experience for your guests – they can also log into their own Netflix accounts if they want to.  If you have multiple properties then try multi room accounts by Netflix – up to four properties can use one account for as little as £13.99 per month (as of March 2021).

GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY – this is a must.  A good quality iPhone camera can work well but you must edit your photos afterwards to make them as bright and as good as they can be.  A professional photographer would be a better option if you can afford it.  From as little as £100 you could get some great results and we think you’ll get this back on your first booking.

FLOOR PLANS – people love to see the size of your property and a floor plan is a great way to do this – do it yourself or use one of the many applications available on the web.  This helps guests to visualise how they will live in your space, it is a one-off cost and will be invaluable to some people.  Add furniture to show what sleeping arrangements are like or how the living room is laid out.

COMMUNICATION – make sure you communicate with your guest so that you can plan for their arrival and notify them of any quirky things they may need to consider – it’s a great chance to get to know your guest and offer suggestions for places to eat, where to park and how to access your home.Welcome Guests to your home

WELCOME GUESTS – a meet and greet service is the best way to welcome guests to your holiday home or corporate rental.  Arrange a convenient time and make sure to get a contact number so that you can check that they are on time.  Showing them around your property and demonstrating the heating system and appliances always makes guests feel at ease and reduces the chance of late night calls if they can’t work it out themselves.

DEAL WITH ISSUES – there are always issues in rental properties – whether you book holidaymakers or corporate travellers.  Ensure that you respond to maintenance issues quickly and efficiently.  Always apologise for issues and have a good list of suppliers that you can call on to fix plumbing, electrics and anything else you cannot handle yourself.

ask for reviews

ASK FOR REVIEWS – this is a no-brainer – a good review will help sell your property to the next guest!  Thank guests for good reviews and always respond to negative reviews.  Tell the negative reviewer how you have solved the issue.  It is important for future guests to see that you care about your property and their experience and that you are prepared to deal with issues that will always arise.

Repeat the above on a constant cycle.  Be on top of your game.  Or use a host company to do it all for you.  A company such as Accommodation Windsor Ltd.  We started renting properties for short term stays back in 2004 – yes even before AirBnB!  We’ve learned a lot along the way, made our mistakes early on and learned from them.

Elizabeth Court Serviced Apartments Windsor

We take away all of the strain and pay a handsome rent to you in return for your quality property.  We ask that you maintain your property (or allow us to on your behalf) to a high standard to keep the flow of quality corporate and leisure clients coming.

If you would like to know more about our services, please send an email to nigel@accwindsor.co.uk with details of your property and I will be in touch to let you know how we can use AirBnB and many other sources to generate a strong revenue stream from your Windsor property.

Garter Day Windsor 2020

Posted: Fri 28 February 2020 at 12:24

Still time left to apply for tickets to Windsor Castle’s famous Garter Day!

Members of the public and those visiting Windsor in June this year are encouraged to apply for tickets to watch the Order of the Garter Procession, which takes place on 15th June 2020.
Garter day is the day each year when new Knights and Ladies are added to the list of 24 Knights of the Garter by the Queen in an official ceremony at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. The ceremony and procession dates back hundreds of years and is full of pageantry and heraldry – a must for anyone hoping to get a taste of the most traditional aspects of the British Royal Family.
Anyone wishing to apply for tickets to watch the display from St George’s Hill inside the precinct of Windsor Castle must send in their application by the 1st March.
Garter Day Windsor 2020

The whole process begins on St George’s Day (23rd April) when it is announced whether there are spaces in the Order of the Garter, which include 24 Knights, as well as senior members of the Royal Family and of course, the Queen herself. The highlight for onlookers tends to be the procession of the Queen and the 24 knights all dressed in velvet robes and plumed hats.

The Order of the Garter was first established by King Edward III around 700 years ago. Men and women can now both join the Order and some notable current Knights include former Prime Minister Sir John Major, Mervyn King, the former governor of the Bank of England.

Where to Visit in 2020

Posted: Mon 30 December 2019 at 13:13

Visit Windsor 2020

Looking forward to a new start this year? 2020 is set to be a magical year – not only a New Year but a new decade – and also a leap year – when women can take their destiny in their hands and ask a man to marry them!

2020 is also the Year of the Rat and also the year that Britain will leave the EU – if your sick and tired of Brexit and just want it to happen (or just to go away) then perhaps you need a holiday! And where better than a visit to Windsor and its fabulous Castle to take your mind off things! You can buy Windsor Castle tickets here.

Seriously though, Windsor has its fair share of great things to see and do – the Castle taking centre stage but there are a whole host of other things to do in Windsor. Like taking a water tour of Windsor – there are a few options depending on how adventurous you are. The Duck Tour is an amphibious vehicle that takes you on a road tour and then splashes into the water for the river tour. Then there is the French Brothers Boat trips or the glamorous Bateaux Windsor – fine dining on a tour of the sights up the Thames.

What about a 2 hour horse ride through Windsor Great Park to get you out in the fresh air. Our friends at Tally Ho Stables organise various trips and are very knowledgeable on the various wildlife in the park and places of interest and they are very nice people too! They organise rides for every level of experience – contact them through their website: Tally Ho!

The shops are already filling up with goodies and shop fronts are being decorated. There are Carol services, festive markets and the usual pantomime at Theatre Royal Windsor – it’s about time you made a visit!
Book a gorgeous hotel in central Windsor or a serviced apartment for a short stay and enjoy all that Windsor has to offer.
Start your Christmas shopping and enjoy the atmosphere!

British Summertime Ends this weekend

Posted: Sat 26 October 2019 at 19:20

autumnal scene, accommodation windsor ltdAs the summer season has well and truly ended and we head towards winter, many changes happen around us that make life worth living; from the colour changes of the leaves on the trees from vibrant green in summer to rich oranges and reds, to the crispness in the air and the darker evenings, now is the time to enjoy cosy evenings by the fire or at least drinks in a pub with a real fire if you don’t have one!

Halloween is an event that Windsor people take really seriously.  In some of the residential streets that surround the town centre, Victorian Houses are often dressed up with all manner of Halloween garb to trick or treat the youngsters that gather each year with the aim of collecting as many sweet, sugary items as possible, often to their parents’ dismay!  Many families take part in this annual ritual and children as young as 2 or 3 are often seen amongst the scarier teenage crews with hats and bats and all kinds of weird and wonderful costumes.  It’s all done in good faith with the aim of letting children enjoy what has become an event to rival Christmas as 31st October is a date firmly on the British calendar thanks to our American friends who have been celebrating the holiday for decades.

The kids are off school now for a week or two and if that wasn’t enough, the clocks go back this weekend at 2am on Sunday (27th October 2019) so we get an extra hour in bed – although those with young kids might not see the benefit if they are early risers anyway, unless you have them well trained.

Make sure to get out and about through autumn – take a walk along the Long Walk to the Copper Horse Statue and watch the trees shedding their gold leaves.  The view of the Castle from the statue is sensational on a clear day – take your camera – and your wellies!

Don’t forget Windsor Theatre and fabulous places like Cliveden House and Savill Gardens where you can easily spend a few hours walking through the grounds admiring the plants.

For a reasonably priced Bed and Breakfast in Windsor, try Alma House – with double rooms from £75 this autumn.
