gardens_virginia_water_gallery_04_530-340[1]Savill Gardens is a stunning landscape located less than 5 miles from Windsor Castle surrounded by Valley Gardens and Virginia Water.  It is open all year round with the exception of 24th and 25th December; innovative planting means that there is something interesting to see and do throughout all four seasons in these interconnecting, ornamental gardens and woodland covering 35 acres.

The surrounding parkland offers a superb day out for all the family including the dog (although  dogs are not permitted inside Savill Gardens.)   Cyclists, skateboarders and joggers are welcome, but if you prefer a slower pace there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views in over 1000 acres of woodland, lakes and gardens.  You can also visit the gift shop, cafe and restaurant all located in the award-winning Savill Building.

Entrance to the gardens is between 10am-6pm daily and prices are £9.50 for adults and £4.25 for children (6-16).  Discounts apply for groups, seniors and students.  The surrounding parkland is free of charge and open from dusk to dawn, although parking charges do apply.  As we hurtle towards summer, it’s a great opportunity to get some gardening inspiration from the experts.

“From early April, the banks of the water course are clothed with splendid yellow and white Lysichiton, commonly known as the ‘skunk cabbage’ due to its unmistakable odour.  Spring Wood is especially vibrant, with large Camellias and Magnolias coming into flower. Rhododendrons take centre stage in late April and early May with a huge array of colourful blooms filling the woodland glades.  Enjoy the richly scented large flowers of the Loderi hybrids scattered throughout the Garden.”
