Happy Valentine's Day by Joebelle
Happy Valentine’s Day, a photo by Joebelle on Flickr.

Double celebration this week involving huge quantities of pancakes (with sugar and lemon of course) and hopefully some lovely chocolates (jewellery…!?) and flowers. Should cheer us all up a bit anyway – February much better than January where we’re all desperately trying to lose a few exta pounds and not spend any money from our Xmas excesses. Enough time has passed – it’s official, today is the perfect excuse to have yourself a naughty pudding and get to the shops for a special treat for loved ones. Don’t forget the lemons on the way home, and Happy Flipping…!!

AWL CHRISTMAS PARTY

xmas-staff-2012

Last week AWL celebrated the Christmas Season in style with a bash for staff and friends at owners Nigel and Georgia’s home.  As usual, the idea was to get some great photos for our Christmas E-card and then donate the money that would have been spent on printing cards to a worthwhile cause.

As is becoming the tradition, the team get right into the spirit of the party with their sparkliest outfits and a great sense of fun.  You can see a collection of the best pics   with many thanks to Bob Stapleton for coming along and taking the photos for us.

Jimmy Higham

This year we are donating to the Jimmy Higham Bursury Trust.  You may have heard his single “Isn’t She Lovely” which is currently riding high in the download charts.  Jimmy was a much loved teacher at Wellington College who sadly lost his battle with Cancer this time last year aged just 26.  He had a beautfiul voice and a university friend decided to posthumously release this track in his memory.  The kids at the school are trying to get it to number 1 with all monies raised going to a bursury fund.  The bursary will allow 16 year olds to spend their last two years at the college with its excellent facilities – giving them a life changing opportunity.  You can download Jimmy’s single here for just 79p:-

We would like to say many thanks to the whole team for such a great evening and wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year.

Meimo Menu Sampling

Posted: Tue 16 October 2012 at 11:23

Last week was a tough one… newly opened Meimo’s asked Nigel if he would take some food pics for their website.  Always keen to help out local businesses (and to pretend to be a professional photographer)  Nigel headed up Peascod Street with camera in hand.  Then came the perfect drizzly Friday afternoon phone call – “They’re cooking up the whole menu, do the girls want to come and eat the food after we’ve photographed it…?”

Hello?  Is, like, Arnold Schwarzenegger hard to spell?  “Yes please,” came the deafening response and off we tottered for a fab lunch.  Thank goodness it WAS Friday as we wouldn’t be abe to fit into any clothes (or doorways) again until Monday!

calamari-on-the-menu

From the chargrilled Lamb Brochettes to the Classic Gourmet Burger served with straw fries, we worked our way through most of the menu together with Bob (actual professional photographer) and his lovely wife Jackie.  Even Kelly “I don’t eat vegetables” Vessey, perhaps the least adventurous eater of all time, loved it, although nothing we said could get her to try the Calamari!  (Divine; served with salad and garlic mayonnaise).

Our recommendations to you:-  Becky’s favourite was the Sea Bream stuffed with rice, Leonie loved the slow cooked Lamb Shank, Nigel and Bob loved the Lamb Tagine and Jackie and I happily finished off the Meditteranean Roast Chicken.  Everyone agreed the pancakes were the nicest they had ever tasted!

Thanks to Abdul and his team for making us feel so welcome and serving us a delicious lunch.  We’ve already booked our Staff Christmas Outing at Meimo’s, and if any other restaurants need some help they are very welcome to give the AWL Team a call… we LOVE food!

The Courtyard Apartment Video

Take a look at our latest video completed by Sam Taylor, our prize-winning resident Cinematographer. This video shows a fabulous 2-bed property located on Windsor High Street, within moments of Windsor Castle, the shops, restaurants and train stations.

Sam’s latest video is interspersed with fabulous shots of Windsor, showing what a diverse and interesting place it is to stay.

Our next video will have a distinctly sporty theme… just waiting for the rain to let up so we can get some great sunny shots!
